Mistah Exquisite

Matthew Laidlow is certainly an exquisite young man. Declaring that as the word he would use to describe himself since his high-school days, Exquisite has been biding his time writing out his material and properly orchestrating his come up. The 20 year old rapper has been taking things serious lately recently as he has dropped which I believe to be his first official mix tape “The MasterPlan”. It seem as if Exquisite is designing his own blueprint. Could he be the next Jay-z coming out of Toronto? That a good question; you can be the judge and listen to The MasterPlan yourself.

Exquisite doesn’t stop just at dropping a hot mix tape. It seems Mistsah Exquisite has established his own music group, Souled Out Entertainment, which I’m sure will have artist with the same type of go getter attitude as Mistah Exquisite himself. And not to mention some of the music videos Exquisite has done for the songs off his MasterPlan mix tape. I’ve just seen the Video for the single “Abracadabra” and in my opinion for and independent artist, the video in great; nice plot to it and proper use of props and location as well. His other videos “Dats How I Do Dat” and “Road To Gold” are of the similar category of “Abracadabra” in the sense that the videos are definitely a great reflection and even have that essence of independent artists trying to come up. They all capture the determination of up and coming artist here in the GTA and that’s what I like.

Make sure you check out Mistah Exquisites mix tape “The MasterPlan” and check out his music videos as well.

Angela & the Plaitwrights

A sweet young lady with a beautiful voice is how I would best describe Angela Abrenica. I was lucky enough to have the pleasure of meeting the young singer and right then and there I could tell that she was serious about her music. Her voice brings the presence of essence to any song that shes on. In addition to her talent in singing, Angela is a talented song writer and does a pretty good job at playing the acoustic guitar; I think its safe to say shes got what labels are looking for, but that's just my opinion. Of course there is still room for growth; I'd say the eighteen year old singer/song writer is on the right path and making sure that it is acquired. Angela's affiliation with her group "Plaitwrights" benefits her by getting her name out there as well as helping her tap in to her potential; as you can see, chemistry is embodied throughout the many songs they have together.

Have a look at Angela and her group "Plaitwrights" in the newly released song;

IQ

Local artist IQ starts with a beat and finishes with a bang and he's really living it. Representing for Toronto’s very own, music producer and rapper known as I.Q. is the look out guy of the city. From his CD, “10 Seconds”, his first single, “Late Night” featuring another Toronto based rapper “The Maze”, has been one of the most anticipated tracks in the underground scene and making its way to the spotlight. Currently in the studio and finishing up the album, he already has recorded the second single which is for sure to go viral crazy. It’s for sure to get the media buzzing with his prolific lyrics and style as well as the hard hitting beats which collaborates well together to form something none heard of in the city or really in the industry. He's got his own team and is building it carefully with promising individuals; the name Insomniac Music Group, remember that name. Toronto seems to be the motivation and starting point of the journey for I.Q. as he continues to hit the studio and create music we’ve been long waited for. Originality is the key for this young artist/producer as he continues to create. Guess we will have to wait to see what’s to come.

Have a look at IQ's single Late night featuring his affiliate the Maze, also check out his blog and twitter for up coming songs such as Marty McFly featuring The maze and Greed.

Honey Who???

Honey Cocaine that's who. I had the pleasure of meeting the young female rap artist at the down-town Toronto night club XS on Saturday Jan 28th. The female rap artist caught the attention of Young Money's own Tyga and has elevated her fan base as well as her position in the music industry. My brief meet with Honey allowed me to learn that she's on to big things touring and doing shows paying in the range of appropriately $10000. In fact, she even told me about her $30000 Rolex she had recently purchased.

I'm not 100% sure where she is from in terms of growing up, but Honey is certainly known in the city of Toronto in fact, we have mutual friends. She's defiantly a cool girl and young still, I believe 18 or 19, I'd say she's got a whole lot of potential and is ready to give the people what they came for.

As a female  rap artist, its already hard enough to get in to the industry, but to add that she is from Toronto, Canada, clearly she's got some talent. Looks like Toronto's got some talented young artist, that's for sure. And if anything else should be added, I'd say Honey Cocaine  is gonna pop off, she's got a lot of potential. So be sure to watch her closely and listen to her music, especially if you're for Toronto.

Check out Honey Cocaine in action in Heisman by Tyga ft Honey Cocaine and her own song Feel shit.

Lefty

The artist here in Toronto are definitely striving for recognition from their audience. One of the more persistent demonstrators would be lefty aka Leff Rakk. Known for his rugged raspy delivery and real to life lyrics, lefty has been making his name and spelling it out in city of Toronto. Track after track dropping, mix-tapes after mix-tapes knocking at the doors of listeners and capturing there attention. Recently Leff Rakk has been working close like with his younger brother "Manage" and showing him the ropes. Although Manage is younger than Lefty, being the protege does not mean that he is at all novice. Manage brings his A game to each track he records and is always on his grind. Be on the look out for Manage as he works on his up coming mix-tape.

Have a look at the two in action on Leff Rakk's newly released song featuring Manage; Too Late (No Love)
