Infu Electronic Press Kit

Toronto Rapper Infu's Electronic Press Kit

Got word from the homie Infu himself about his EPK. I watched it and really wanted to show some support. All I have to say is that Infu is a really down to earth dude and you could tell that he is truly dedicated in what he does. A lot of people don't really appreciate or wont really take into account up and coming artists, but we all know music is a big part of life. From watching Infu's press kit, I can see he's not just about the fame or trying to be like someone else, but that this is what he does regardless of where it gets him. Some people are just born to do certain things, for Infu it's pretty clear that being an artist on the music scene is the destiny he's made for himself. I'm just happy that things are looking good for him and that he's repping Toronto.

Who is I.Q.?

I was able to speak with Toronto's own talented up and coming Producer/rap artist I.Q. to find out about his new single Marty McFly, which is off of his mix tape "10 second" and also, I wanted get him to tell you who he was. Here's what he had to say

Who is I.Q.?

Reason why I’ve chosen I.Q. was actually kind of an accident at first. I chose it originally because it was my initials and then when I was 13 I really started writing a lot as well as doing production on the computer and on the side just reading a lot about anything just giving myself as much knowledge as possible. Then a few friends and people just started calling me IQ as a joke because they saw me as a smart dude or what not and I kept that because it was also my initials. It worked out for the best. Ultimately, I ended up choosing IQ as my name mainly because it represents me in every way and it’s my initials of course lol.

I’m originally Persian but I was raised in Toronto and I love my city. The reason for me making music is because it’s my first and true love above it all. As cheesy or cliché as that may sound, it’s the truth. I’ve been beat boxing since the age of 5 and finally got to put more into music when I started playing instruments and producing on the computer and studio etc. Also, I believe sending a message through music is the key.

From the time I really started doing music which was 13 till now has been a crazy ride of ups and downs. Grinding is the word that comes in mind because I’ve been doing nothing but working hard and trying to improve my craft as a producer and rapper. I’ve worked with various artists in North America as well as internationally and have nothing but love for what I do, and I’m always looking to improve and perfect my craft.

Are there any projects you are currently working on?

Currently I’m working on a project of my own which is my mix tape “10 Seconds” and that should be out by summer time. I’ve been working on that for quite some time and have been keeping it very intimate in the sense it’s something I’ve put a lot into. To add to that, I am currently working on another project with an artist of Insomniac Music Group, who goes by the name The Maze, and he and I are working closely to get his project out. So there are a lot coming from Insomniac Family to be honest...you guys will just kind of have to be patient and wait for it to drop.  As for shows, they’ll be posted soon, I don’t have any exact dates as of yet but definitely be on the lookout for me and shows.

Tell us about your new single Marty McFly

This new single Marty McFly actually just came from the movie back to the future lol. I was actually just in the studio and it was right after watching the movie, that I started working on this beat. At the same time I was kind of on that beastie boys tip lol, at least at the moment, so I thought to myself I want to create something very fresh and original and right now hip hop is more bubble gum. I thought to myself “you know... I’d like to do something outside the box with a different sound”. So long story short I created Marty McFly and had Maze, and Mars Paris to hop on it and we came up with a solid track.

What is your main goal as an up and coming artist here in Toronto?

My goal is to build an empire in plain simple words. To create music that others have never heard and help as many people through our music and just have a good time. I could honestly go on with reasons because it’s a long list but I’ll just say one thing and that is: Insomniac Music Group is a family of elite with minds like no others and flows like no others. We are coming to make history. Just wait and see.

Who is TechRymes?

I was given the opportunity to speak with Toronto's own talented upcoming rap artist TechRymes and he had some humble words to share. Allow me to tell you who TechRymes is and share with you what he had to say.

Who is TechRymes?
I'm just a positive person and pretty much an open book. I keep it 100 with people and what you see is what you get. I was born in Lagos, Nigeria but I have lived in Dallas, Fort Worth, Ottawa, Toronto and currently reside in Brampton. I started rapping to imitate Canadian voices and get rid of my accent but I've carried on because I feel I have a good mantra that needs to be heard by the youth to emphasize being yourself and not following other people. As an artist, I try to push real life themes into my songs but I still have the fun tracks as well. I speak about being a leader in the song "Anarchy Republic" and I address the pessimists on my song "You Mad", I digress from the swag bullshit because it’s all materialistic and isn't worth much. I got the name TechRymes from people saying my rhymes were really technical and perplex back in the days so I ran with it. As of now I am focused on completing my undergraduate degree before I make any deep moves with music because music will always be here, I will always have my talent but education is now.

Are there any projects you are currently working on?

I'm currently working on my next mixtape 'Going Hard Boulevard". It is a mixtape filled with bangers and hot songs that you can ride too and go hard with haha. I've also completed a mixtape with my group called "Infinity & Beyond" and this music is out of this world we all bring different things to the table.

What success have you seen on previous works and projects?

My first official mixtape "Time For Elevation" garnered over 20K downloads so I'm pretty amped about that. I haven't checked up on it in a bit but it's on my website. Also, I got the opportunity to work with one of my favorite artists Freck Billionaire from Street Fam. We should have more work coming for the people and they know to expect bars! Currently I am now part of his group "CBL Stars". I was also part of a three man collective called Bermuda Triangle  with Suspect & D-Pryde we had a couple bangers and a slew of collaborations that you can find sporadically over the internet.

What is your main goal as an up and coming artist here inToronto?

My main goal is not to be signed to a record deal, but rather to own a label ora company that produces music for charity and corporations... and this goal will be accomplished, as I have already started assembling a team. So look out for me and my squad Infinity Fam as we change the dynamics of this music industry and keep going hard. Hit me up on twitter @techrymes or on my website http://www.techrymes.com/

Who is Infu?

Toronto's very own talented emcee Infu gave me the chance to speak with him and it was a very pleasentful conversation. Let me tell you who Infu is and the things he had to say.

Who is Infu?

Infu which comes from my last name (Infusino) is the product of two years of grinding in the music game. Being from Toronto was thought to be a disadvantage for a long time in the hip hop world, but as we near our pinnacle I'm feeling more excited than ever. Although I'm only 24 years old I feel as if I have an "old man mind" and that reflects in my music. I focus on lyricism and substance in my music, more of a classic emcee rather than a trendy rapper. I've seen both sides of the coin in such a short time; being a Canadian rapper is judged upon enough, imagine being a white - Canadian rapper. The whole racial thing exists but at the end of the day people respect and appreciate talent, so if you bring it no matter what your complexion is, people will feel you. Now that I've had some successful mix tapes and sold out a few shows I feel we’re beginning to generate a buzz which is only expanding.

Are there any projects you are currently working on?

Right now I'm currently working on new music daily with my cousin and Producer/Engineer Zanets. We're in the studio everyday just banking tracks trying to find the wave for the next project. We know where we want to go with it, we just need to decide how we want to get there.
As far as performances I'm actually hosting Tattoo Rock Parlour on Thursday April 5th (Tomorrow). Right after that show I'm off to New York on April 10 with Zanets to take care of some business, I can't really get into it, but I will say its music related. I'll be doing a meet and greet in NY as well. Later on in the summer I'll also be opening up for Kid Ink on June 24 at The Opera House. I’m sure a couple more; regardless you'll be hearing a lot from me.

What success have you seen on previous works and projects?

My first release was called Swine Fu and was dropped in 2010. It was a sold out jam and a lot of big people came out to support the movement. My second mixtape in 2011 called Big Fuzie did much of the same. Another sold out release party and heavily played mixtape release. Features on the tapes include: Saukrates, Rich Kidd, Mayhem Morearty, Jonny Roxx, etc... many of which I have gotten to perform with. I've also had guests like Page and P Reign at my mixtape release parties and gotten to connect with some heavy people in the industry through shows and events. (Redman, French Montana, Cory Gunz, etc.)

What is your main goal as an up and coming artist here in Toronto?
What am I looking for?
I'm always looking to move forward in my career and progress as an artist but I make sure to always stick to my goal and create good music. Whether that lands me a record deal or in a liquor store parking lot, I just want to make good music. I've worked with the majority of the artists I want to work with in Toronto, but I want to move forward and branch beyond our border.  Who knows bruh? That's a good question... I just want distribution support, I mean we make our own music, have our own studio, in-house beats, engineer, video, we just need distribution and marketing. Whoever can facilitate that... I'm willing to at least talk to.

Who is Mars Paris?

Who is Mars Paris? He is one of the hardest working and dedicated artists that we’ve been exposed to in a while. Music seems to be more than just life to Mars. Currently working on his mixtape “G.O.L.D.” and recording track after track we have finally gotten a hold of his newest release, “It’s Only Right” (Produced by Bassik) Working hard and grinding is key for this young artist and we can’t wait to see what he has to bring to the table when he drops his mixtape. Mars Paris is also featured on the second single off of I.Q’s mixtape “10 Seconds” on track called “Marty McFly” which is going to be released in a few weeks which is guaranteed to be buzz worthy. So tune in and get the radios on blast as you’ll be hearing a lot more from Mars Paris.

Who is N-Rimes?

I've had the pleasure of meeting N-Rimes in 2010 at a shopping mall where he was hard at work selling his mixtape to get his name out there; I was able to witness first hand how serious and determined he was. Let me tell you who N-Rimes is.

Born in Hamilton, ON and raised in neighborhoods throughout Toronto's west end, Aaron "N-Rimes" Burnett was exposed to many criminal activities in the Jane & Finch environment. However, he did grow up in a strict family-oriented household which kept him stable and away from crime. With all his free time he then grew to have a passion for Hip-Hop. Rimes started writing raps at the age of 11. His name originated from his passion for connecting with the masses and that's how he gave himself a sense of meaning as an artist. He referred to himself as the Nation's Rhymes because he felt like he could be a voice for the people. Later, he created an acronym R.I.M.E.S. which stands for "Rapping In Music Expressing Self"

He started making music more about his everyday life. In addition he never forgets to acknowledge others such as Big Pun who had a big influence on his rhyme scheme. Other influences include Cool G Rap, Nas, Cassidy and Dipset. Time went on, and through the ups and downs of his life he did not stop writing. Furthermore, N-Rimes continually progressed in mastering his craft of storytelling. One thing that never fails in every song that he's put out is his flow, creativity, plus his catchy hooks that can't be ignored.

Since 2009 N-Rimes has released 6 mixtapes including The N Of The Game Vol. 1, The N Of The Game Vol. 2, Dubs N 16s, The N Of The Game Vol. 3, Old School Meets New and The N Of The World. An impressive 20+ music videos have been released by N-Rimes including such hits as This Is Life, Reach For The $ky, Back In The Days 2010, and The Better. N-Rimes has also caught the attention of major international successes having opened for Slaughter House of Shady Records, Freeway, and Tyga of Young Money. He has also toured with Sean Kingston alongside Tory Lanez, and received official co-signs from the real Rick Ross and Legacy of New Boyz.

At 22, now residing in Florida, he's prepared to show the game his musical diversity. It might be hard to realize, but he is a whole lot more than JUST a rapper. Rimes proves his great versatility with his ability to produce instrumentals, write poetry as well as write songs for most genres of music.

Who is Sense?

I’ve been paying close attention to Sense for a while and if I could answer that question I’d say that he is a talented MC who is profoundly gifted with rhythm and words. Let me tell you more about Sense.

The artist known as Sense (Michael Bourne) is a Canadian born young man who livis ies in the Brampton part of the GTA but is originally from Edmonton Alberta.  Displaying his passion in music at an early age (5), Sense had engaged in singing at churches and weddings through the help of his parents. Through following his love for singing, Sense came across Hip hop thanks to his cousin and thus a new way to reflect and display emotion was found. He was intrigued and decided to combine his new love with his older singing talent and something special was created. That different style brought amazement to the hip hop fans in the GTA as they came across Sense’s music.

Being so passionate about his love for music, Sense eventually dropped out of high school and with that drastic change, Sense really stepped into the music. Being so driven, Sense went and purchased studio equipment and learned how to engineer vocal audios and instrumentals, and through those efforts he was successful at getting airplay on 89.5 Project Bounce, a very popular at the time radio show. He was 18 at the time. Continually getting more hits on the radio show, dropping 8 mixtapes and 6 years later, Sense really gained notice from a 4 month old submission on 93.7 WBLK Unsigned Hype and got a response. He had received the opportunity to reach out to the American market, so he took action and didn’t let the chance go by. With the help of an assembled team of graphic designers, his manger, friends, and several talented local producers like Raj Tut and Nick Knox he made a promotional push that earned him a maximum allowed 5 week reign at the number one spot on the countdown with his song “Love or Hate me”.

Since then, Sense has had 3 more hit singles released, all going to number one, and in early 2010 Sense headed out to the second annual Unsigned Hype Awards in Buffalo, NY where he walked away with the “Hip Hop Artist Of The Year Award” for Canada . Excited about this newest phase in his life he knows he can’t slow down now as he keeps pressing on with a new mixtape series entitled “Lord of The Kings”, a much anticipated debut album release set for 2011, and probably one of the most interactive and entertaining live shows in the GTA. Sense intends on letting the world know that if you’re not already watching him…you should be.

On Sunday April 1st Sense will be performing live at an April fools show presented by
Raw Dog Ent and MDB Ent. It will be a night filled with stand up comedy and music a complete entertainment experience. The show will be held at 9:00pm at Lambadina Lounge. Prices are $5 Guest list and $10 at the door. For more information visit this link http://www.facebook.com/events/365764560110821/

Mistah Exquisite

Matthew Laidlow is certainly an exquisite young man. Declaring that as the word he would use to describe himself since his high-school days, Exquisite has been biding his time writing out his material and properly orchestrating his come up. The 20 year old rapper has been taking things serious lately recently as he has dropped which I believe to be his first official mix tape “The MasterPlan”. It seem as if Exquisite is designing his own blueprint. Could he be the next Jay-z coming out of Toronto? That a good question; you can be the judge and listen to The MasterPlan yourself.

Exquisite doesn’t stop just at dropping a hot mix tape. It seems Mistsah Exquisite has established his own music group, Souled Out Entertainment, which I’m sure will have artist with the same type of go getter attitude as Mistah Exquisite himself. And not to mention some of the music videos Exquisite has done for the songs off his MasterPlan mix tape. I’ve just seen the Video for the single “Abracadabra” and in my opinion for and independent artist, the video in great; nice plot to it and proper use of props and location as well. His other videos “Dats How I Do Dat” and “Road To Gold” are of the similar category of “Abracadabra” in the sense that the videos are definitely a great reflection and even have that essence of independent artists trying to come up. They all capture the determination of up and coming artist here in the GTA and that’s what I like.

Make sure you check out Mistah Exquisites mix tape “The MasterPlan” and check out his music videos as well.

Angela & the Plaitwrights

A sweet young lady with a beautiful voice is how I would best describe Angela Abrenica. I was lucky enough to have the pleasure of meeting the young singer and right then and there I could tell that she was serious about her music. Her voice brings the presence of essence to any song that shes on. In addition to her talent in singing, Angela is a talented song writer and does a pretty good job at playing the acoustic guitar; I think its safe to say shes got what labels are looking for, but that's just my opinion. Of course there is still room for growth; I'd say the eighteen year old singer/song writer is on the right path and making sure that it is acquired. Angela's affiliation with her group "Plaitwrights" benefits her by getting her name out there as well as helping her tap in to her potential; as you can see, chemistry is embodied throughout the many songs they have together.

Have a look at Angela and her group "Plaitwrights" in the newly released song;

IQ

Local artist IQ starts with a beat and finishes with a bang and he's really living it. Representing for Toronto’s very own, music producer and rapper known as I.Q. is the look out guy of the city. From his CD, “10 Seconds”, his first single, “Late Night” featuring another Toronto based rapper “The Maze”, has been one of the most anticipated tracks in the underground scene and making its way to the spotlight. Currently in the studio and finishing up the album, he already has recorded the second single which is for sure to go viral crazy. It’s for sure to get the media buzzing with his prolific lyrics and style as well as the hard hitting beats which collaborates well together to form something none heard of in the city or really in the industry. He's got his own team and is building it carefully with promising individuals; the name Insomniac Music Group, remember that name. Toronto seems to be the motivation and starting point of the journey for I.Q. as he continues to hit the studio and create music we’ve been long waited for. Originality is the key for this young artist/producer as he continues to create. Guess we will have to wait to see what’s to come.

Honey Who???

Honey Cocaine that's who. I had the pleasure of meeting the young female rap artist at the down-town Toronto night club XS on Saturday Jan 28th. The female rap artist caught the attention of Young Money's own Tyga and has elevated her fan base as well as her position in the music industry. My brief meet with Honey allowed me to learn that she's on to big things touring and doing shows paying in the range of appropriately $10000. In fact, she even told me about her $30000 Rolex she had recently purchased.

I'm not 100% sure where she is from in terms of growing up, but Honey is certainly known in the city of Toronto in fact, we have mutual friends. She's defiantly a cool girl and young still, I believe 18 or 19, I'd say she's got a whole lot of potential and is ready to give the people what they came for.

As a female  rap artist, its already hard enough to get in to the industry, but to add that she is from Toronto, Canada, clearly she's got some talent. Looks like Toronto's got some talented young artist, that's for sure. And if anything else should be added, I'd say Honey Cocaine  is gonna pop off, she's got a lot of potential. So be sure to watch her closely and listen to her music, especially if you're for Toronto.

Check out Honey Cocaine in action in Heisman by Tyga ft Honey Cocaine and her own song Feel shit.

Lefty

The artist here in Toronto are definitely striving for recognition from their audience. One of the more persistent demonstrators would be lefty aka Leff Rakk. Known for his rugged raspy delivery and real to life lyrics, lefty has been making his name and spelling it out in city of Toronto. Track after track dropping, mix-tapes after mix-tapes knocking at the doors of listeners and capturing there attention. Recently Leff Rakk has been working close like with his younger brother "Manage" and showing him the ropes. Although Manage is younger than Lefty, being the protege does not mean that he is at all novice. Manage brings his A game to each track he records and is always on his grind. Be on the look out for Manage as he works on his up coming mix-tape.

Have a look at the two in action on Leff Rakk's newly released song featuring Manage; Too Late (No Love)
